Spicy Garlic Turmeric Shrimp
I love cooking shrimp, 1) because they cook SO quickly, 2) they absorb the flavour of anything you cook them in.
This past week I made this super delicious spicy shrimp (recipe inspired by my husband, who has seriously mastered cooking shrimp).
We have been making shrimp in a similar way for a while now, but decided to add some turmeric and real chili peppers and it turned out amazing! Give it a try and let me know what you think.
Ingredients:
2 tbsp. olive or coconut oil
2-3 tbsp. hot sauce of choice (I used sriracha sauce)
1 tbsp. honey
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 red chili pepper, minced or sliced thinly
Salt and black pepper to taste
2-3 fresh basil leaves, torn (optional)
1 tsp. turmeric
1/4 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. chili powder
400g shrimp (one fresh or frozen bag)
Directions:
Heat skillet on medium high and add olive or coconut oil.
In a small bowl, combine, hot sauce, minced garlic and chili, chili powder, cumin, turmeric, salt/black pepper, and honey.
Add shrimp and begin to sauté for about 1-2 minutes.
Add sauce mixture and continue to sauté for 4-5 minutes or until shrimp are cooked (orange colour and no longer transparent).
Top with fresh basil and enjoy!
I like to serve mine over jasmine or basmati rice and a side of veggies (my go to usually being broccol or other stir fried veggies with this dish).
Have a wonderful Sunday and maybe make something spicy to stay warm!
Cheers to happy and healthy eating.
Until next time,
