My Top 8 Healthy Grocery Finds

I love grocery shopping and the search for healthy food and beverage items, there is something super fun and satisfying about discovering healthy and delicious foods. I especially like finding products that make healthy eating easier, because let's face it healthy eating takes work and time. In addition, the types of foods/beverages we have in our home will influence what we eat, if you love chips and have a bag sitting in your pantry, eventually you are going to eat them. Our home food environment plays a major role in shaping what we eat, so if you have healthy foods around you will likely eat those as well!

In this blog post, I am going to highlight my top 8 healthy grocery finds. These are food/beverages I LOVE to use regularly and products that make healthy eating easier for my family.

1. Cooking Greens

Cooking greens is a Canadian company with amazing quality frozen produce. They flash freeze their vegetables, which helps keeps nutrient levels high and the produce fresh. Their motto is "farm to freezer". I love their chopped spinach, brussels sprouts, and athlete's mix. I usually have one in my freezer at all times, for a quick side dish option.

I have found them at a variety of different grocery stores (but not Walmart).

2. Mary's Gone Crackers

These organic, non-GMO, whole grain crackers are absolutely delicious and totally addicting. I love carbs and enjoy crackers and cheese as a snack. I find these crackers to be super satisfying and a great cracker option. They are a great source of fibre and mono and polyunsaturated fats (healthy fats).

I have found these at Costco and some PC stores.

3. Skyr yogurt

This is my latest obsession! It is super creamy and high in protein. The flavoured variety also aren't filled with sugar, making it a great snack option or a great addition to your breakfast. I have been having it for breakfast with granola or oatmeal or packing it in my lunch as a healthy snack.

You can find these at any PC store.

4. Unsalted Kirkland assorted nuts

These jars of nuts are large and reasonably priced. I have done many comparisons and can't seem to get this quantity and quality of nuts for the same price. I like to pack nuts as a healthy snack option or add them to my yogurt, salads, oatmeal etc. Nuts are a great source of healthy fats and protein. In addition, having 1/4 cup per day has been deemed beneficial for heart health.

I find this mixture exclusively at Costco.

5. Blue Menu Sides

I really love the blue menu sides, because they are quick, simple and nutritious. I try to keep one of these in my freezer most of the time, it is a perfect side for a busy evening. The carrot and kale mixture is one of my favourites.

You can find these in the frozen section of any PC store.

6. Frozen berries

I am a berry lover, with raspberries being my absolute favourite fruit. But the truth is berries are quite pricey and not always an affordable option. The frozen option is cost-friendly alternative that can be still be enjoyed. I warm up my frozen berries (20-30 seconds in the microwave) and add them to oatmeal, yogurt etc. I also keep them frozen and use them in pancakes, waffles, baking or smoothies.

You can find frozen berries in the frozen section of any grocery store! If you haven't tried them yet, I highly recommend you do. You won't be disappointed.

7. Blue Menu Smooth Peanut Butter (with omega-3s)

If you know me, you know that peanut butter is one of my all time favourite foods. I even have a top that says peanut butter is my spirit animal (yes I love it that much)! I am often asked about what peanut butter I use, but to be honest I am always switching it up. I use natural peanut butter from the bulk store, kraft etc. One of my favourites is the blue menu smooth peanut butter, I love the texture and taste and it has the added bonus of containing omega 3 fatty acids!

You can find this at any PC store.

8. Green tea

I am a tea lover! My morning does not feel complete without a nice cup of tea. I don't always use caffeinated teas, but truly enjoy a variety (some of my favourites include herbal ginger teas and vanilla infused earl grey teas). However, my favourite tea is green tea! I probably have this 5/7 days per week. Green tea is filled with antioxidants and provides a great energy boost. I also love matcha green tea, I use the powder in smoothies, baking, and lattes.

You can find green tea at any grocery store, you can also find matcha powder in many natural health stores or tea shops!

I hope you enjoyed reading about some of my favourite healthy finds. I am now off to do some grocery shopping, where I will pick up some of the items I mentioned above. I hope this provided you with some ideas or things to look for the next time you go grocery shopping.

Let me know what your favourite healthy finds are! I would love to hear.

Cheers to happy and healthy grocery shopping! :)

Until next time,

Angela - Eat Right Feel Right XO
